"Sеlf- portrait" №25540
Description
Ivan Markvichka leaves a bright trace in the varied picture of the emerging artistic life of post-liberation Bulgarian culture. The most significant are its artistic achievements in the folk genre: folk celebrations, customs, as a model in this genre is his famous picture "Rachenitsa". These compositions are a kind of emblem of time. And if the traditional everyday life is reflected in them, portraits represent the new free personality.
He is among the founders of our first art company, among the organizers of the first exhibitions, among the initiators of the first art magazine. He participated actively in the creation of the State Painting School in 1896 (today National Academy of Arts) and was his first director and professor of painting until 1921.
The reproduction is a high-quality print, on an Italian eco ink canvas. The canvas is folded over the back to the size of 30x40, and above this size is stretched on a subframe. The picture is arranged with a luxury frame.
